Nepal VS Namibia 1st match || Review

Nepal beats Namibia by 5 wickets with 17 balls remaining and finally wins their first game in the ICC World Cricket League Championship after 4 matches. It was a very comfortable win for Nepal since they restricted the visitors at 195 and then chased the target sparing 3.5 overs. Here I have compiled a brief review of the game.

Toss:

Namibia had won the toss and choose to bat first.

First Inning:

Having won the toss and choosing to bat, Namibia started the game with it's opening pair Stephen Baard and Zaan Green. Sompal Kami bowled the first bowl of the game with a wide delivery. Later that over Kami conceded 15 runs which included 3 fours from Baard. On the other end, the skipper Paras Khadka attacked by bowling medium pace but Namibian openers took advantage of the mandatory powerplay and scored 10 runs more. Success came for Nepal early when Sompal Kami took the wickets of  Baard at 2.1 over and Green at 6.6 over. Shakti Gauchan and the debutant Sandeep Lamichane were given the opportunity to ball in the powerplay too. At the end of 10th over Namibia managed to score 47 for 2, after that it was all Nepal's clinical spin show! Namibia was drastically slowed down by the Gorkhali spinners, managing to score just 91 runs in the loss of 6 wickets between 11 to 40 overs. The final over from Sompal Kami was expensive as he gave away 15 runs making the final score of Namibia 195/9.

Second Inning:

Having a low score to chase, Nepalese openers Gyanendra Malla and Naresh Budayari started the game slowly scoring just 15 runs in the first 6 overs. At the end of the powerplay, Nepal had scored 36 runs losing no wickets. Finally Namibia got a break through when Snyaman bowled Malla out at 12th over and Budayari had to depart after a lbw by Groenewald at 13th over. Nepal's captain Khadka and Sharad Veswakar then tried to build the game but again Khadka was bowled by Burger at 22nd over. Nepal had a shaky middle over after losing their another debutant Raju Rijal and Rajesh Pulami too quickly. Fortunately, Veswakar and Binod Bhandari batted sensibly ensuring that Nepal crossed the victory line comfortably.

The League Table:

After today's game the league table looks as following:
